Giving to SCCIE

Over the last decade, UCSC has built one of the finest international economics departments in the world. SCCIE has been an integral part of this success. By identifying critical international issues and undertaking rigorous and objective research we are informing public policy solutions, strengthening the reputation of the campus, and substantiating the vital relevance of our work.

Our success has not gone unnoticed and has received wide recognition and praise. Recently SCCIE has co-sponsored events with the Hong Kong Institute of Monetary Research, The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, the European Commission, the Review of International Economics, and the Journal of International Money and Finance.

We want to build on our successes and have set a fundraising goal that will help start an endowment in support of our activities. Over the next three years we are determined to raise $1 million.

We are offering naming opportunities for people who are committed to investing in our program. For instance you can now be named the sponsor or co-sponsor of our annual conference, our workshops, even of our graduate support. Your gift will be tied to your interest and help build our endowment fund.

Thanks to the annual financial investment of our alumni and friends, SCCIE is able to maintain the standard of excellence that contributes to building one of the finest international economics departments in the world. Please join us in making this possible for years to come.

Please contact Joop Rubens our Development Officer for further details on naming opportunities or other kinds of support: 831-502-7275, jrubens@ucsc.edu

Individual Donors

Giving to SCCIE enables individuals to participate in numerous policy conferences in the United States and other countries. They may participate in discussions, seminars and lectures as well. These influential donors are invited to intimate events with select speakers. Associates receive SCCIE newsletters and research reports throughout the year. They are sent regular email updates on SCCIE events and faculty news.

Foundations

SCCIE members receive support through foundation grants for academic research and fellowships. Foundations can also support SCCIE programs, conferences and seminars, speakers, and publications.

Over the years, SCCIE members have received funding from a variety of noteworthy foundations. Through their funding, SCCIE members have been able to pursue research that has had a direct impact on economic policy in developing countries.

Corporations

Private corporations can sponsor both specific and general areas of research at SCCIE and can take on a supporting role in conferences and workshops. They may be active participants in any number of SCCIE meetings. Corporate Associates may send designated employees to participate in SCCIE events. Corporate Associates are invited to intimate events with select speakers. In addition, Corporate Associates receive the SCCIE newsletter and research reports published throughout the year.

Our ability to fund long-term programs is based on sustained contributions of our donors, especially our corporate partners.

Making a Donation to SCCIE - An Investment in the Future

Through your support SCCIE is able to expand the scope of research and plan for long-term projects. Financial support also helps to attract top-level scholars to conduct research in additional areas.

SCCIE accepts many levels of giving to best accommodate the needs of our donors.

Every gift to SCCIE makes a difference in its own right and demonstrates the tremendous power of collective giving. For instance, a $10,000 donation can help us generate $500 towards student support year after year.

Individual gifts to the SCCIE add up to real impact:

  • $500 – It only takes 20 gifts of $500 for us to initiate a $10,000 endowment, which will generate your $500 many times over for years to come.
  • $1,000 – will get us to this goal even faster

Gifts at the following levels provide you with a naming opportunity:

  • $2,500 – Sponsor a SCCIE Seminar Speaker
  • $5,000 – Sponsor a Conference Keynote Speaker
  • $7,500 – Sponsor the Annual PhD Conference
  • $10,000 – Sponsor of our Graduate Student Support Program
  • $15,000 – Sponsor a Topical Workshop
  • $20,000 – Sponsor the SCCIE Seminar Series (8 speakers/year)
  • $25,000 – Sponsor the SCCIE Annual Conference

*Larger gifts can give you the naming rights for multiple years. For example $100,000 = Annual Conference Sponsorship for 4 years.
